Well, we made it this far.....

Yep, today is D-day. And another day where nothing is going on. After hearing at my last appointment that they will not let me go to 42 weeks, I think the thing that has been keeping me sane is knowing that I only have 13 more days AT MOST left of this pregnancy. It has kept me in a better mood knowing that I do have an end date through all of this. I think it has lowered my stress, pain, and insomnia. Now what's interesting to me is everyone around me and people that know I'm now past my due date. I have been getting a lot of sympathy comments. Which are kind of odd. There isn't anything I can do about it. It's one of those things that doesn't help to dwell on it, as I've found out. I probably could have avoided a lot of stress if I had just accepted the fact that this baby is not going to be here early like Trevor was.

Of course I could get surprised at my midwife appointment tomorrow. They start monitoring baby movement, measure for enough amniotic fluid, and I'm sure run a few standard tests. I guess there is a chance that things don't measure where they should, so they might have to induce, but I'm guessing that's just false hope on my part. I'm STILL not swelling except for the last few hours in the day. My blood pressure has remained within a few numbers of how I always am. And I'm actually still sleeping ok...once I relaxed and stopped worrying about when the baby would be here. I do, however, feel bad that a lot of the extended family are starting to have to go on a few trips for work and sports.....and I would feel bad if I had the baby at that time. But again, I don't think I can help it.....hopefully they will forgive him/her when they meet it.

I'll be back another day with the midwife appointment update. Wish us luck in these last few days!!!

Bringing you up to speed....

Hello all,

I'm very sorry that I haven't felt up to blogging lately. I can't exactly say things have been hectic here, although I really wish they were. As that would mean baby would be here. But nope. 2 days left until the due date, and at this point I have given up all hope that it will be here by then, and even the fact that I will have a September baby. And BELIEVE ME we have tried every "natural" way of inducing as possible.....this baby just wants to stay put.

Dealing with the fact that I'm still pregnant has been a big source of anxiety for me. And I also mistakenly thought that I might be able to convince the midwives to induce me possibly this week. After talking with them, their policy is no earlier than 41 weeks, no later than 42 weeks. After hearing that, and having my little melt-down, I have become much more accepting of what I can and cannot change, and how that impacts my own health and well-being.

So here I sit, having gotten done just about everything I could have possibly wanted to do before the baby gets here which leaves me with the boring activities of doing simple up-keep on the house and such. I'm not in a huge amount of discomfort, sleeping ok...especially since I let all the stress go.....and trying not to expect anything so as not to be disappointed.

I cannot be thankful enough that T is in preschool. He seems to be loving it. If I can get him to talk to me directly after it ends, he gives me a pretty good account of what happens, and what he learns. He is REALLY into the religious aspect of school. Last week they toured the church, and he loved talking to me about all the places God was, including his actual preschool room.

Trevor is also getting much better at both his Leapster and playing the sports games on the Wii. The Leapster is great for getting him a little more practice with things like math and reading skills, and the Wii really gives that kid a work-out because he gets so excited when he plays baseball or golf.

His reading skills are really coming along too as evidenced when he plays the Wii. In golf, it will congratulate you by putting the words "birdie, par, Bogey, double Bogey" after you have finished the hole. I know we haven't mentioned those words to Trevor yet, but when he saw the words on the TV, he thought the words translated to: "party, park, birdie, big birdie"

Anyway....that's what has been going on with us lately. I do promise a big welcoming post when the baby is here, so don't worry that I will forget about it. It has just been a little disappointing on my own part, and I haven't felt as up to it as I usually do. Thanks for everyone's understanding!!!

No really...what do you think???

I wish everyone could live a day in the body of a 8 month pregnant woman. It would AMAZE you how many people want to touch you, talk to you, ask you questions, give you their unsolicited advice, and just in general sound like they care when in reality if you weren't pregnant, you wouldn't get a second glance.

The check-out lady got me at the grocery store yesterday. I only had a small basketful of groceries, but she quickly said, "How are you and your little girl doing?" Uh, what? She then clarified by saying, "You know you are having a girl, right?" I corrected her by saying that we had not found out. I then had to listen to her harp on me for not finding out. Like that was the worst thing in the world I could have ever done. And apparently her expert opinion is because of how I'm carrying the little babe. Weird thing is, that she thought I looked like I was carrying high, and I've always felt like the baby is going to squirt out if I take one wrong step...that's how low it feels.

Anyway....Between all the questions, and incredulous thoughts as to how far along I look.... It's kind of hard to take when you don't like the attention to begin with. Oh well...just a few more weeks hopefully. Then my life will be turned upside down, yet again. BRING IT ON!!!!

I may be pregnant, but I'm not stupid

First off, sorry about the videos not working...they are fixed now, so enjoy!

So yesterday I was very pregnant. I had a few pregnant moments. Big one was I forgot how much your balance changes when you are this pregnant, and when I was running around after Trevor, I slipped and fell. I came down hard on my leg and hip, but no injuries except maybe to my ego. I fell in front of my mom friends. Whoops.

Then last night, I got all ready for bed, fell asleep and then woke up to Trevor saying he was ready to go downstairs. I went to put on my glasses and noticed something strange. Um....I forgot to take out my contacts. Whoops. There goes that pair. I'm pretty sure they are old anyway, but still. I guess I'm really pregnant.

However, just because I have a preggo brain, does not mean that I have no ability to smell when something is "fishy". I've always seemed to have this ability. Granted, I might actually be a bit too cautious because I do know a few people that do those pop-up ads that say "click here to get a free X-box" or whatever.

Anyway, what happened to me was that I have become a helper with my golf friends if they ever would like to sell something either on ebay or craigslist. I have a lot more experience with ebay than I do with craigslist, so I'm much more aware of the ebay scams than I am with the craigslist ones. Thankfully, I have a mom friend that is VERY helpful in that regard.

So most recently, I was in touch with my church to help sell something on Craigslist. I just posted it on Monday, and immediately someone got in contact with me. From the start it was a little fishy, and I ran it by my "expert" friend and she informed me to watch out for the scam that involves someone overpaying you with the expectation that you will send that extra money to someone else.

So things were going along, and I had hoped that if this was a true scam that seeing that this actually involved a church, and not me, that maybe they would grow a conscious and disappear if it really was a scam. Guess not. This morning, I got the email that said that they were sending in the check an extra $3000 that we are supposed to send to the "moving company". Good grief. I just hope the church person that I talk to isn't upset. I also hope that by giving out the church's address they aren't subject to mail scams or something.....

What ever are people thinking???

I tell you, this baby KNOWS

First off, I would like to say a big THANK YOU to my brother Kevin for helping us out in a pinch last night. Had it not been for him, I would not have gotten to go golfing (Again, I did really well). Russ got called to a court case to testify and we did not line up anyone to babysit. I hope he did well for you, and didn't give you any problems! So Thank You again!

So I had a thought last night. If I had the ability to converse with the unborn baby at this point, I think I have an idea of how it would go: (For your reference, I affectionately refer to the baby as Kermie since I do not know the sex, and Kermie could be a boy or a girl ;-)

Me: "Is everything going ok in there?"

Kermie: "Yes Mom"

Me: "Because you know this pregnancy has been so different than with Trevor, I just want to make sure you are doing ok."

Kermie: "I know mom, it's that second child syndrome or whatever. I will always be compared to Trevor because that is the only experience you've had before."

Me: "Ok, well like I said, I just want to make sure everything is ok."

Kermie: "Well, I had heard that you were getting a bit doubtful, so I decided to help you out a little bit. Did you notice how active I was for you yesterday?"

Me: "Oh yes."

Kermie: "And what about last night? You thought for some reason I COULDN'T wake you up on the middle of the night?"

Me: "You are right Kermie....I shouldn't have doubted you."

Kermie: "And I thought I'd make sure you remembered you were pregnant and in the last trimester."

Me: "Yes, I did get that message too. And while I don't think my back thanks you, I for sure remembered after feeling that. That's the other thing I should have remembered - you jinx yourself as soon as you mention how good things are going. I learned that with Trevor."

Kermie: "Ok mom, well it sounds like you got the message. See you in a few months!"

Me: "Thanks again, and glad to hear things are going well."

Today is a new day

Well, yesterday was not a very "good" day for Trevor and I. Nothing really that I want to dwell on, but just to say that it's tough to have those days and remember that it's only temporary.

This morning I had another uneventful midwife check-up. They went over my glucose and hemoglobin tests from last month, and said they looked excellent. I'm measuring right where I should be, and the baby's heartbeat is over 150 as it always has been (old wives tale says that means it's a GIRL). I also made sure to ask about golfing as I've gotten a few questions from people as to how long I can play golf, and as long as I make sure to stay hydrated, I'm good to go as long as I'm comfortable.

So last night I had one of those realistic dreams that are a little perk to being pregnant. It was very odd (at least from my perspective). It started out, that it was towards the end of September, and I was a few days away from my due date. Then, I blinked my eyes, and it turned into Thanksgiving, but we were still in September. I had a baby that I found out was a boy that we had named Eric. I actually was so confused that I had to ask Russ how and when I had the baby. I would also like to put a disclaimer that Eric is not on our list of names, nor would I consider naming my child that. I know too many Erics.

Anyway, Russ had to tell me about how the whole labor/delivery thing went. Because apparently I fast forwarded through the whole thing. He said that I went past my due date and they induced me (again not something I would ever have done by choice). He said I wanted it so we could have the baby by "Thanksgiving".

So I moved past it...and not many other interesting things happened except that my mom and I had a big fight about how I'm teaching Trevor how to swear or something. Which again is odd because I'm not a big swearing person, even when I'm not around kids. I say "shoot" and "darn it all" more than anything else. So I think that is what caused us to leave "Thanksgiving" early.

And that's all I have to say about that.....

I wonder what came over me....

Who knows.....I think it was my procrastination causing me some guilt. Or the fact that we haven't been home for most of the month. But whatever the reason.....Trevor and I got a lot done yesterday.

First we walked up to the grocery store. At least the hard part of walking is getting there....it's uphill, and pulling a wagon with a 40lb boy isn't that bad. We got out early enough so that it wasn't too hot either. So we walked up, went grocery shopping, grabbed a little Caribou (Caramel Coolers - YUM) and walked back.

Not only did we walk to the grocery store, but I decided to get things ready for a donation run, and vacuum the living room area. I'm sure Trevor was just in heaven because he LOVES to vacuum with me.

And finally, the end to a wonderful day for him.....he got to finally play T-ball. Something he has been asking about almost every day since he played it last Monday. This time we got some video (Thank you Aunt Tracy) but I have to get it downloaded before I can add it here.

So all-in-all a very good Monday for us.....More to come on future events....
