It's time for Basketball!

Today was the first day of "Biddy Basketball" through the YMCA. You have to be 4 years old, so as soon as Trevor was eligible, I signed him up. Our only other team sport experience was T-ball from last year. But that was for 3 year-olds. In that group, Trevor was the oldest on his team and you could tell that there was a bit of a development difference between him and the youngest players on the team.

Looking at the roster for his basketball team, he is the second youngest, and the youngest is the coaches son. Given that the coach's son has practiced a little with dad before today, I would bet that Trevor has the least experience of any of the kids. And since he had the least experience, I would say he did great. It is funny, I think, because in T-ball, the parents were with their kids the entire time, and this time, it was just during "practice". As soon as the game started, Trevor did not want us to be around - only cheering from the stands.

Basically, he learned a little bit of how to dribble, got the hang of how to toss the ball upwards towards the basket, and that you get to run to the other side of the court when the ball switches teams. Seriously, the kid would have just loved to run back and forth in the court. Didn't ever have to touch the ball.

So next week I'll have to post pictures. He seems to be having a good time and wants to go back again next week.
